He / She will express this through clear behavior, speech and gestures. They are responsible for the fight and its adherence to the rules.
Their responsibilities are:
Before the match he must be certain that the judges are ready and in their proper place.
He / She make sure the competitors are properly attired and are equipped with the mandatory safety equipment and that it is in good repair.
He / She must make sure the competitors are not wearing any jewelry and have a clean uniform.
He / She must make sure the competitors lined up on his right has a red flag attached to his belt indicating he is the “red” fighter.

The referee will remain close to the competitors in order to make quick decisions and possibly intervene and separate them.
A warning must be loud and clear to the competitors. The referee must point his hand directly at the competitor and state ”warning for ———-”! He must inform the competitor that he runs the risk of being disqualified. His warning must be spoken in a stern manner.
Only the center referee can administer warnings or disqualification.
To declare the winner, the referee brings both competitors to the center of the ring. He raises the winners hand and pulls the competitors together to shake hands in a sportsman like manner.
Judges:Each ring will have a minimum of three judges. The judges should be fair and non-partisan and judge each competitor’s performance to the best of their ability. There may not be a tie. A close match is to be judged by overall impression and not just by the single targets hit. The judge must render a decision. They must choose a winner. If all is even, then the competitor with the better technique, strategy, or who has shown the best self-defense is to be chosen.
The following decisions could bring a match to an end:
Winner by forfeit. If the coach or competitor no longer wishes to continue, then the match is stopped and the opponent is declared the winner. This is done by throwing in the towel by the coach or by the competitor raising one arm.
Referee stops the match. A match may be stopped because of defensive inability. The winner is decided by the referee.
Injury. If the match is stopped due to injury, then the referee must decide if the injury occurred through allowed or prohibited techniques.
A) If prohibited techniques were used, then the injured fighter is the winner by disqualification.B) If allowed techniques were used and the injury was self caused then the uninjured competitor wins by forfeit.
Disqualification. After a single warning from the referee, and depending on the severity, a competitor may be disqualified and his opponent declared the winner. Infractions that may warrant disqualification with or without warning include but are not limited to:
Excessive Contact
Hitting after the bell or the command to stop
